Safety Instructions for Permanent Jewelry Welding

The Welding Flash

The flash generated during the welding process can be harmful to the eyes if viewed directly.

Therefore, both you and your customers should always wear the protective safety glasses included in the starter kit, close your eyes during welding, or look away from the welding point. This also applies to spectators and bystanders.

In most cases, a brief warning before welding is sufficient to ensure everyone's safety.


Selecting the Correct Energy Setting

Different chain types and materials require different energy settings for successful welding.

The cleanliness and condition of the electrode tip also play a crucial role in achieving a clean weld on the first attempt.

If you are unsure about the correct setting, always follow this rule:

When in doubt, use less energy rather than more.

For example, stainless steel tends to produce more visible sparks during welding, while silver and gold generally react less aggressively.

For this reason, the protective work mat included in the starter kit should always be used during welding.


Electrode Tip Safety

The electrode is extremely sharp.

To prevent accidental injuries, we recommend placing the handpiece in the optional stylus holder whenever it is not in use.

This helps prevent the handpiece from rolling off the table and causing injury or damage.


Handling Argon Gas Safely

Argon is heavier than air. In enclosed or poorly ventilated areas, it can displace oxygen and create an asphyxiation hazard.

This is particularly dangerous in small or confined spaces where high concentrations of argon may reduce the oxygen level in the air. A lack of oxygen can lead to unconsciousness or, in extreme cases, suffocation.

Argon is typically transported and stored in pressurized cylinders. Improper handling of these cylinders can result in serious accidents, such as gas leaks or cylinder damage that may cause a sudden release of pressure.

Liquid argon exists at extremely low temperatures (approximately -186°C / -303°F) and can cause severe cold burns or frostbite if it comes into contact with skin.

Safety Precautions

Ensure Adequate Ventilation

Always use argon in well-ventilated areas to prevent oxygen displacement and maintain a safe working environment.

Monitor Oxygen Levels

In environments where large amounts of argon could potentially be released, oxygen monitoring systems should be used to ensure oxygen levels remain within safe limits.

Handle Gas Cylinders with Care

Argon cylinders should always be stored, transported, maintained, and used according to applicable safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.

Prevent Damage

Protect cylinders from impact, excessive heat, and unauthorized modifications.
